mind + body + spirit

“A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.”

— Lao Tzu

Yoga isn’t just a job or a hobby, it is a way of life. It’s also a great starting point for self-exploration. The physical body can be an ideal gateway to our internal selves because it’s so much easier to access (at least initially) than the mind. All it takes to begin is to roll out your mat.

Yoga Classes

I teach many different styles of yoga including Bikram, Vinyasa, Yin, and Synergy (partner yoga). I teach regularly at studios in both Aspen, CO and Los Angeles, CA. Check the class schedule to find me in the studio! Haute Yogi Manhattan Beach, Hot 8 Yoga Santa Monica and Soho Yoga in LA and Arjuna Yoga in Aspen, Colorado.

Yoga Retreats

It is a joy for me to lead weeklong destination yoga retreats all over the world in incredible settings such as Europe, Asia, Mexico, Hawaii, Bali, and the list continues to grow. Whether you want to get deeper into your practice, find an escape from the stresses of your life or just take a healthy vacation, these retreats are designed to cater to the individual, providing options for a variety of daily yoga classes, guided meditation, massage, and meals prepared with healthy, fresh, locally-sourced foods and (most importantly) free time. We specialize the retreat so each student can have his/her own adventure and choose their level of participation. For information on upcoming retreats, click here.

Private lessons

I love working with people one-on-one. This way of working helps provide space to explore detailed instruction and insight to postures and personal modifications that might be missing from your group practice. Privates are also a great way to introduce someone new to yoga, or to deepen a regular practice. To request a private lesson in your location, click here.

The Accommodations
Peacock Pavilions is Marrakech’s hand built, artisanal, Give-Back boutique hotel. It’s nestled in an old olive grove with a breathtaking view of the Atlas Mountains on an 8.5 acre private estate on the outskirts of the city of Marrakesh. The property is truly gorgeous and one of a kind, decorated in Moroccan tribal chic style and featuring 3 pavilions, an outdoor yoga studio, a swimming pool, an outdoor cinema, rooftop terraces and much more. The property has been used for high fashion photo shoots, special celebrations, and all kinds of creative retreats. The setting is truly spectacular to have a once in a lifetime experience in Morocco. Surrounded by hundreds of rose bushes, olive trees, the serenity of the desert and with the backdrop of the snow-capped Atlas Mountains, we are confident you will melt into relaxation and find yourself inspired at every turn.

The food served will mostly be Moroccan food with many choices for people with special diets. The menus at Peacock Pavilions will be featuring farm-to-table, made from scratch, authentic Moroccan cuisine with a twist. We will be served a delicious breakfast every morning outside in an arcaded terrace by the pool. The fruits of Morocco are truly delicious including their famous orange juice, figs, dates, and much more. Whether having breakfast or dinner at the hotel, all meals will be prepared with local, fresh ingredients, some from their own gardens. One evening we will be dining in an Arabian dining tent seated on cushions in traditional Moroccan style.
We will also be having lunch on our Atlas Mountain excursion at Richard Branson’s outstanding luxury hotel, Kasbah Tamadot, before heading to visit the Berber village. Additionally, we will have 2 nights out to dinner in the city, which will prove to be no less impressive. One restaurant is entirely owned by Moroccan women and considered to be one of the very best restaurants in Marrakesh. The other restaurant is a fun, more modern take on Moroccan food and feel. Both we know you will love!

The yoga classes are all-level, available to everyone. Amanda’s teaching style is extremely intuitive and each class will focus on specific alignment points, the medical benefits of the asana, and the spiritual context of yoga. The physical practice, Hatha Yoga, can be a powerful tool for gaining clarity in the mind, and alignment with Source Energy. The yoga practice will support the deeper work we will share. You will feel completely connected to your radiant health and vitality after this incredible week of Asana practice.

We’ve concocted a week of creative fun, relaxation, and adventure that offers a complete and authentic Moroccan experience!
The week starts with a day in the medina, the center of Marrakesh, where all the action takes place in the souks. We’ll have a private shopping tour of some very chic boutiques and get to feel the electricity of the city as well as the orderly flow to the chaos. An inspirational day indeed with sights, smells, and energy that will pull you in all directions. A restful and peaceful dinner at the hotel will be a nice compliment to this afternoon.

The following day, after a perfect morning of yoga, a scrumptious breakfast and a powerful workshop, we head out to the Atlas mountains where we will spend the afternoon exploring a village of the original Moroccan mountain people, the Berbers. We will have lunch at Richard Branson’s luxury resort in the mountains as well with breathtaking views of the mountains and desert below. Upon returning to Peacock Pavilions, we have a restful and delightful evening planned of dinner followed by watching a movie in the outdoor cinema with a bonfire, popcorn and hot chocolate.
Another day we have a luxurious and nurturing day planned at the famous La Mamounia spa where we will have an afternoon of experiencing the traditional Moroccan spa. Whether you choose hammam or massage, you will leave feeling uplifted and rejuvenated. We’ll lounge around the gorgeous indoor and outdoor pools and have lunch there as well.
After the spa we head back to Peacock Pavilions for a cocktail and henna party by the pool followed by a wonderful dinner.
You will also have 2 free days to spend as you wish, either lounging by the gorgeous pool and relaxing or going into the medina once again for more shopping, sightseeing, and museums.

Spiritual psychology

Are you aware of the power you hold within yourself? Do you have a vocabulary to articulate your feelings and beliefs to be able to resolve the issues and challenges in your life?

As an advisor, life coach and counselor, my intention is to empower people and hold for the experiential awareness that we all have what we need inside.

Spiritual psychology is in its essence impossible to define because it is rooted in the individual and not in a general philosophy or approach. My style is, all clichés aside, truly holistic and wholly unique. I am open to whatever avenue is going to be most effective for the individual’s needs whether it’s talk therapy, yoga, massage, hiking, adventure, or a combination (mind + body + spirit).

I love working with children. I have experience with many teenagers and young kids of all ages doing yoga and spending time talking and listening with them. Some of our most impactful moments and learnings are revealed when we are doing yoga, skiing/snowboarding or other various activities that empower and guide younger clients. Taking therapy sessions out of the ‘office’ is something I try to do most of the time.

I’m deeply connected to bereavement therapy and coping strategies for people working through cancer, chemotherapy, chronic pain, disabilities, and other issues related to the body.

15 minute phone consultation: free

90 minute initial session: $250

60 minute session (in office): $200

60 minute session (in home): $225

Corporate/group session: prices available on request

Hong Kong

Seeing this amazing city from the sky was so much fun… Even tho I got a little bit sick from the flight🚁 it was well worth experiencing the beautiful land of these islands. No question Hong Kong is one massive city but surprisingly of its 1,092 km2, three-quarters of the land is countryside.

It’s amazing to see such dense population surrounded by acres and acres of green. Many of the islands are unahabited.

The Guan Yin statue overlooks the Tsz Shan Monestary. She stand 76 meters (almost 250 ft) tall. Guan Yin is the goddess of Mercy. Even from the sky the energy is so strong above this sacred space.
I love the panoramic view of Hong Kong Island, and the vast open space of hiking trails on Sai Kung.
Tomorrow we see the “Big Buddha” can’t wait!

Haramara Retreat

The Haramara Retreat in Sayulita Mexico is hands down one of our favorite retreat locations. Im so grateful for the opportunity to unplug, restore, and regenerate each and every cell by connecting to nature.

The Haramara Retreat in Sayulita, Mexico is a favorite retreat location for so many of our guests. It is definitely one of my favorites.

I feel so blessed to have the opportunity to unplug, restore, and regenerate my body and mind in this incredible space. Walking barefoot and letting Mother Nature in, can be the most powerful medicine. Intact, did you know than just by walking barefoot on the dirt, we alkaline our bodies? This beautiful place allows for deep healing and rejuvenation.

‘Deep thought and consideration was given to the placement and location of every structure at Haramara, so as to remain “at-one” with the spirit of the land, the jungle and the beach, with minimal environmental impact. Haramara has been built without mechanical equipment compromising the virgin jungle and every structure has been hand-built using traditional construction methods. The planning of Haramara took into consideration the environment AND the quality of your experience.’ –Haramara Retreat

Don’t miss the next retreat! May 14th-21st 2016.

Getting into Synergy

After participating in my first Synergy class, I knew this would be something I would soon be sharing with others. Right away I connected to the physical connection to another body that takes place in this practice. I know that sounds a little “touchy/feely” but that couldn’t be further from my experience. I felt like my body was being supported in a way that happened far beyond what my rational mind could understand. My experience was that my body was communicating to another body through breath and relaxation. My mind didn’t even have a chance to interpret or judge what was going on. I didn’t know it at the time, but now know this is what makes the practice of Synergy so special, and healing.

Synergy is a practice that creates a space of trust and communication. Unlike during a therapy session or anything liner where the mind is filtering being ‘vulnerable’, this practice allows us to go right to the place of feeling supported, which inspires vulnerability immediately. We don’t even have to think about it.

The health benefits that come from this unique way of communication from body to body is huge. Back bending and forward bending, (which in yoga class can feel often challenging or scary), are experienced with grace and ease. When one partner relaxes into the stretch, the other partner’s body feels that relaxation and is inspired by that, and then relaxes too. Just like in Yoga when the instructor speaks to the “body”, Synergy is a communication from “body to body”.
